To calculate countertop square footage, measure the length and width of each section in inches. Multiply length by width for each section to get square inches. Add all sections together, then divide the total by 144 to convert to square feet. For example, a 96-inch by 24-inch section is 2,304 square inches, which equals 16 square feet. Remember to include overhangs and measure all countertop areas separately before summing them up for the total square footage.
